Mr. Hayhurst has been a social studies teacher at Bluffs Middle School since 2000.   

Mr. Hayhurst graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with endorsements in history and political science; he earned his Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in the spring of 2011.

Mr. Hayhurst has been married to his wife Robin, who is a professor at WNCC, they have been married since 1987. The Hayhurst's have three girls, ages 26, 23, and 21
