Veteran's Day Parade: 

The 7th and 8th Grade Marching Band will be performing for the Veteran's Day Parade on Wednesday, November 11th. This parade will take place at 11:00 a.m. on East Overland from 19th Avenue to 3rd Avenue. Students should wear their marching uniform (Red Band Polo, Black Pants, Black Socks, and Black Shoes). ROTC students may wear their ROTC uniform if they choose. Please click on the following link for more information.

Veteran's Day Parade Itinerary  

8th Grade NSBA All-State Band Selected:  

Zac Konrad, Nebraska State Bandmasters Association Middle Level Chair, announced the results of the NSBA 2027 8th Grade All State Band Auditions. There were 419 students from 77 schools who auditioned. Based on their recorded audition, the NSBA Honor Band committee selected 93 students and 22 alternates for the band. Bluffs Middle School had 16 students complete the audition and 10 students were selected to be members of this prestigious group of young musicians. 

Students from Bluffs Middle School have participated in the NSBA 8th Grade All-State Band for the past 26 years and we are pleased to add the following names to the list of those selected: 

• DominicAlsidez (Alternate Bari Sax) - Parents, Agustin and Andrea Alsidez

• Kathryne Billingsley (Trumpet) - Parents, Robert and Sarah Billingsley

• Calvin Blumert (Bass Clarinet) - Parents, James and Weslie Blumert

• Coraline Burns (Trumpet) - Parents, Joshua and Jennifer Burns 

• Lincoln Graesser (Alternate Trombone) - Parents, Andrae and Allison Graesser

• Avery Holmes (Trumpet) - Parents, Charles and Elisabeth Holmes

• Faith Langer (Alternate Flute) - Parents, Peter and Keely Langer

• Jaxson Liebich (Trumpet) - Parents, James and Sarah Liebich

• Ivy Mosel (Alternate Percussion) - Parents, Jason and Lindsey Mosel

• Lydia Rugroden (Percussion) - Parents, Paul and Kelly Rugroden

These students will travel to Kearney in January to rehearse and perform with the other members of the honor band. Congratulations to those students who were selected and to all those who auditioned. 

Old West Weekend Parade Results: Congratulations to the 7th and 8th Grade Band for their performance at the Old West Weekend Parade on Saturday, October 17th. The students were judged on their playing skills (Tone Quality, Intonation, Rhythmic Precision, Articulation, Balance, and Interpretation) and their marching skills (Rank Alignment, File Alignment, Posture, Uniform Instrument Position, Uniform Step Style, and Players In Step). The BMS Band received a Division 1 -  SUPERIOR Rating from the judges.  We are very proud of their performance and happy to see all of their hard work pay off. Their next performance will be for the Veteran's Day Parade on Wednesday, November 11th at 11 a.m. on East Overland. 

Jazz Band Rehearsals to Begin: The BMS 7th and 8th Grade Jazz Band will begin rehearsing on Tuesday, August 25th at 7:00 a.m. in the BMS Band Room. The Jazz Band will rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:00 - 7:35 a.m. Students should enter the building through the North Annex Door (Door 10). Mrs. Koch will be there to let you in starting at 6:45 a.m. until 7:05 a.m. If you arrive after 7:05 a.m., you will need to enter the building through the South Main Doors by the office.
