All classroom rules are based on the three major Bluffs Middle School Expectations:
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe
Entering Class: Gather any necessary materials from cubbies in closet at the back of the room. Quickly find your seat, and begin working on the starter posted on the board. You will be given until attendance has been taken to finish your starter.
Hall Pass: Students are expected to use the bathroom at the beginning of the class or during independent work time. Students will not be allowed to use the restroom during passing periods or during instruction.
Food, Drink, Gum & Electronic Devices: Food and drink are not permitted outside of the cafeteria for sanitary reasons. Only a clear water bottle is allowed. No GUM is allowed anywhere in the school. Electronics should not be seen or heard in the classroom.
Exiting Class: In the last 5 minutes of class, you will wrap up what you are working on and return your materials to your cubby in the closet at the back of the room. The teacher, not the bell, dismisses you upon completion of these tasks.
Absences: If you are absent, it is your responsibility, not the teacher’s, to find out what you missed and get your work turned in.
Late Work Policy:
Daily work assignments and assessments are considered late if submitted after the teacher’s established due date.
The highest grade a student may earn on a daily work assignment and/or an assessment submitted after the teacher’s established due date will be a 70%.
Daily work assignments received two weeks after the teacher’s established due date will not be accepted.
Meeting classroom expectations and behaving appropriately in class helps to create a learning environment where you and your classmates feel welcome, safe and respected.
If you chose to meet the classroom expectations, you will receive a positive consequence, such as a praise from teachers, classmates, administration, PBIS points, a positive note or a phone call home, special privileges/activites and awards.
If you chose not to meet the classroom expectations, you will receive a negative consequence, such as a verbal warning, a change of seat, a student/teacher conference, a phone call home, a detention, or parent/guardian meeting, and LLR or office referral.
