About Me
Mrs. Schmall has been a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher in the Scottsbluff Public School District since 2008. The first twelve years at Bluffs Middle School. Mrs. Schmall currently teaches Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) classes for grades nine through twelve at Scottsbluff High School. She is also the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) & Educator Rising adviser.
Mrs. Schmall earned her undergraduate degrees from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln(2004), and Chadron State College(2008). She received her Master in Education from Chadron State College, in August of 2011. Mrs. Schmall received an endorsement in English Language Learners from Wayne State College in July 2012.
Outside of the classroom Mrs. Schmall enjoys spending time with her family you can find her at any number of sporting events, dance recitals, piano concerts, or the family farm irrigating. Mrs. Schmall is also involved in many different organizations that support Career and Technical Education in Nebraska. Mrs. Schmall is currently serving as the FCS Representative for the Association for Career & Technical Education of Nebraska. She previously served as the President of the organization. Mrs. Schmall is also involved with the Family and Consumer Science Teachers of Nebraska in several different leadership roles. In 2017, Mrs. Schmall was selected as the Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher of the Year for Nebraska in the 6-15 year category. In 2018, Mrs. Schmall was selected as the ACTEN Family & Consumer Sciences Division Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Schmall was also honored at the 2018 Nebraska Career Education Conference in Kearney as the Outstanding Family and Consumer Sciences Educator. She loves to share her passion for FCS and students with other teachers.
Helping students develop Skills for Life and find the connection between math, science, reading, social studies, language arts and the real-world is one of the things that Mrs. Schmall loves about her career. The skills that students learn in her classes are ones that they will use their whole lives.
