Allow me to introduce myself...
Hello, I am Mrs. Shelly Gianelli. St. Bonaventure has been a part of my life since I was a student in the 80’s. I graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1989 and began working here in 1993. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Mike Gianelli, and we have two kids, Noah (class of 2018) and Sarah (class of 2020), both of which are Seraphs too! My other “kids” include my dog, Marley and my cats, Izzy, Rudy, and Melo.
When I'm not At Work...
I enjoy the outdoors, especially the beach. I love to spend time with my family at Oil Piers and Tanks, playing in the water, soaking up the rays, and watching my husband and kids bodyboard and surf. And don’t even get me started on sunsets. They don’t get much better than Ventura. We definitely live in paradise! When I’m not at the beach, I take every opportunity to listen to music. I love seeing local bands and live concerts. I have seen the Grateful Dead over 100 times. My husband and I enjoy sharing our love of music with our kids. We have seen Dave Matthews Band, The Who, Dua Lipa, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lady Gaga, Santana, Harry Styles, The Rolling Stones, Sublime, Social Distortion and so many others.
My Position
I am the Graduation Coordinator and Senior Class Moderator. I teach Anatomy/Physiology and Biology. Science is often a “scary” subject for many students because science deals with theories that are based on facts rather than personal opinion. My goal in the classroom is to create an environment in which every student feels comfortable to enjoy, explore, learn, and succeed.
Education
I went to Ventura College, Cal State Northridge, and Touro University. I am approachable, flexible, and fun. I appreciate humor and love including it in my classroom. I want my students to enjoy learning and be engaged in my lessons so they apply this knowledge to their own lives and their future endeavors.
