Hello! I'm Charles Merritt and I teach Economics, Government, and US History here at Saint Bonaventure High School. As well as teaching, I also lead the monthly Bible Study Club at SBHS. You can find me anywhere on campus and I am glad to help any of my students. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and helping my students be prepared for their futures as adults. I started working as a teacher at Saint Bonaventure in 2017 and have enjoyed every year since. I was educated at the Universities of San Diego and La Verne and received my Masters in Business Administration from the latter.

When I'm not working or helping students, I enjoy watching Indy Car Racing, Football, and reading. I like attending Saint Bonaventure Athletic Games whenever I can and showing my Seraph Pride as well as supporting my students. One of the hobbies I most enjoy is reading theology and biography novels. Being a history buff, I enjoy reading in order to deepen my knowledge personally and as a teacher.

Aside from reading and teaching, I am also involved in Bible Study. I enjoy learning and growing closer to God and sharing in fellowship with others by discerning the word of God. It is one of my greatest joys to help spread the Word of God to our students and help cultivate their faith. My greatest life goal is to be the best Catholic I can be. I strive everyday to live a virtuous life helping others, as well as helping others discern their calling from God.

My Goal as a Teacher
As a teacher, it is my firm belief that education should be both informative and enjoyable for students. The goal is not merely one of short term memorization, but rather of long term understanding. This understanding must include not just the "What" but the "Why" and the "How". Students have little interest about what you know unless they know how much you care. I strive to create a healthy and protective environment and bond with my students. My motive is to help impact lives, not just in the classroom.
