The mission of the Sierra Counseling Program is to inspire, encourage, and support students from all backgrounds in reaching their highest potential. We provide a proactive, data-driven comprehensive school counseling program that cultivates students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development through collaborative efforts of school personnel, families, and community resources. The counseling program utilizes data and a tiered model of targeted supports and interventions to meet the varied needs of our student population. By creating opportunities for all students to access the knowledge and skills that are vital to a successful pursuit of individual life-long goals, our program assists all students in becoming resilient members of society who thrive in school, career, and life.
The Sierra High School comprehensive counseling program envisions that all students are empowered to overcome obstacles, and are fulfilling their purpose through lifelong learning and overall health and wellness. All graduates are thriving in college, in a career, and are self-sufficient, contributing members of their communities.

The ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards & Competencies outline the mindsets and behaviors school counselors need to meet the rigorous demands of the school counseling profession and the needs of pre-K–12 students. These standards and competencies help ensure new and experienced school counselors are equipped to establish, maintain and enhance a school counseling program addressing academic achievement, career planning and social/emotional development.
On Feb 19, 2021, the Sierra High School Counseling Department became distinguished as a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) for 2021-2026. The Counseling Department utilizes a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program to improve students' academic, social/emotional, and college/career development through focusing on supports for the whole child.
