Students will learn to read music, develop technical skills on their chosen instrument, and experience the thrill of performing as an ensemble in:

• Beginning Band

• Advanced Band

• Beginning Orchestra

• Advanced Orchestra

In Beginning Band, learn to play a band instrument like Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, Drums, or Mallet Percussion--- no prior experience needed! Music students with prior experience may qualify to be in the SHMS Advanced Band ensemble, in which music teacher recommendation is required.

In Beginning Orchestra, learn to play a stringed instrument like Violin, Viola, Cello, or Upright Bass-- no prior experience needed. Music students with prior experience may qualify to be in the SHMS Advanced Orchestra ensemble, in which music teacher recommendation is required. 

The SHMS music program empowers students with music education and performance through: Concerts, Festivals, School Rally performances, Honor Band & Orchestra opportunities, and Events / Field Trips.
