IB Learner Profile

The Learner Profile is one of the fundamental concepts at the heart of every IB program, and describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success.
Each of the IB's programmes is committed to the development of students according to the IB learner profile. The profile aims to develop learners who are:
- Inquirers - Knowledgeable - Thinkers - Communicators - Principled - Open-minded - Caring - Risk-takers - Balanced - Reflective

Approaches to Learning

Approaches to Learning, or ATL, are a list of skills that we are expected to develop over the course of each of the IB programs we have at Cajon. These skills fall into the following 5 categories.
1.Communication2. Social3. Self-Management4. Research5. Thinking

Global Context

In the MYP, learning contexts should be (or should model) authentic world settings, events andcircumstances. Contexts for learning in the MYP are chosen from global contexts to encourage international mindedness and global engagement within the programme.

- Identities and relationships - Orientation in space and time - Personal and cultural expression - Scientific and technical innovation - Globalization and sustainability - Fairness and development

Personal Project

Through the Middle Years Programme (MYP) projects, students experience the responsibility of completing a significant piece of work over an extended period of time.
MYP projects encourage students to reflect on their learning and the outcomes of their work – key skills that prepare them for success in further study, the workplace and the community.
Students who complete the MYP in Year 3 or Year 4 complete the community project. All students who complete the MYP in Year 5 complete the personal project.
