Understand that the Dual Enrollment Specialist/ Counselors will review your course requests to help determine if a particular class is appropriate for you based on its difficulty level and your past performance.
Students who have struggled with previous college classes may need Dual Enrollment Specialist/counselor’s approval before taking new courses. This includes students who have failed, withdrawn, or earned low grades in earlier dual enrollment classes. Counselors can help you decide if you’re ready to try again or if you should wait until you’re more prepared for the workload.
Dual enrollment classes become part of your permanent college record, so it’s important to be prepared and make thoughtful choices. Poor grades, withdrawals, or failing a class WILL affect your college GPA and even your future financial aid eligibility. Before signing up, think carefully about your schedule, responsibilities, and whether you’re ready for college-level work.
It’s also important to remember that college classes are an adult environment. Professors expect maturity, respectful behavior, and academic honesty. Disruptive behavior, discipline issues, or a lack of responsibility can result in being dropped from the class or facing disciplinary action from the college.
Dual enrollment can be an amazing experience for students who are focused, motivated, and ready for the independence of a college classroom.
