Book Recommendations

I love all of Oilver Jeffers' books, but this is my favorite.

Love by Matt De La Pena & Loren Long is a very sweet, uplifting story.

Kids will love this silly tale by local author/illustrator Vera Brosgol, and maybe the adults will relate!!

Orphaned Hugo lives in a Paris train station and has taken on the task of keeping the clock tower running, all in secret. This mystery is presented as an illustrated novel and is both heartbreaking and hopeful.

If you love mysteries and need something to sink your teeth into, this 500 page book is it! Much like Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events, this series is witty, irreverent, and super mysterious!

El Deafo by Cece Bell might be my favorite graphic novel of all time! Sweet, sad, funny, and so full of creativity!

This much overlooked classic is darkly funny and mysterious. Stanley gets sent to a boys' detention center and there his punishment is to dig really big holes... He starts to wonder what the purpose of those holes might be...

Now might be a great time to dig into a new series! You can't beat this amazing, classic fantasy series. Even if you've already seen the movie, this book has a lot of surprises up its sleeves.

Middle school is not going well for Mysti. She has a complicated home life, and her one friend has decided to become a "hipster" and abandon her. This one is at turns sad, and funny and feels so true.
