Q: I received an email with a bunch of books and stuff listed. What is this?
A: The library periodically sends out emails to students who have items to return. If you are no longer using those items, please return them to the Library. If you are still reading a book, please come in and renew the book.
Q: I have stuff from my middle school still. Can I return it to Segerstrom?
A: Segerstrom will accept books and technology from your middle school and will send it back to them.
Q: Its taking longer than I thought to read a book or I need it longer for homework. What do I do?
A: Stop by the library to renew the book if you plan on keeping it longer than your check out period.
Q: When will I get my textbooks?
A: Textbooks will be distributed during the first weeks of school through your classes. Many textbooks are now digital and teachers will show students how to access them during class.
Q: What should I do with my textbooks?
A: The Textbooks you receive from school are your home set of textbooks. Keep them at home in a dry and safe place away from pets and liquid. You will return them at the end of the school year.
Q: What if I need my textbooks at school?
A: The library and Higher Education Center have copies of textbooks for you to use before school and during your breaks.
Q: I don't think I received all my textbooks.
A: Some books are now digital now. If there is a digital copy, you will not receive a hard copy. Teachers will show you how to sign into your textbooks the first few weeks of class. If you feel like you should have received a book, come into the library and we will double check for you. If you need a hard copy in addition to the online copy, please come talk to the library.
Q: I am a Freshman that got their Chromebook during ROAR. What did they tell me about it again?
A: You received a new Chromebook and charger. You will use this Chromebook until you graduate or leave Segerstrom. Do not charge the Chromebook over 100% or for more than two hours at a time. When you get home, you will need to log in and update it. When you first sign in, it might take a second to download all of your extensions and apps. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Q: My Chromebook stopped working. What do I do?
A: Bring the broken Chromebook to the library and ask a staff member. They can help solve the issue or replace the device. You can also look at the "Chromebooks" page for some common issue fixes.
Q: How much will it cost to fix my Chromebook?
A: Prices vary depending on the issue. You will need to talk to a library staff member so they can assess the issue first.
Q: Is there insurance for the Chromebook? Do I have to have insurance?
A: Insurance is optional, but highly suggested for students in athletics. For more information about insurance, please visit the Technology page.
Q: The library/email says I need to return my hotspot, but I am still using it. Can I keep it?
A: If you have a hotspot that is working, you can keep using it. If the hotspot is not working as expected, bring it with you and the library can trade it out for a new one. If you are no longer using the hotspot, please return the device. Some hotspots may stop working as the contracts end. Please return the device and if needed the library can replace it with a new device.
