Hello and welcome! With 19 years as an educator, I'm excited to share my passion for learning with you.
Teaching Journey: For almost two decades, I've been immersed in the world of education. From cells to ecosystems, I've aimed to make the study of life captivating and memorable.
Dual Expertise: What makes my approach unique is my dual role as a biology and esports teacher. I've merged my professional expertise with my love for competitive gaming, recognizing the valuable life skills it cultivates.
Gamer, Reader, Explorer: Beyond the classroom, I'm an avid gamer and reader. Video games inspire my problem-solving skills, while reading fuels my imagination. Exploring new frontiers, whether in learning techniques or virtual realms, drives me.
Learning Together: Education is a shared journey, and I'm as eager to learn from you as I am to teach you. Whether we're examining specimens or strategizing in esports, I'm here to guide, inspire, and encourage.
Let's explore biology, esports, and the boundless joy of learning as a team.
Guided by the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), this course embeds community science into our curriculum. Using research-based approaches to teaching science in a deeply digital environment, students contribute resources, observations, data, and analyzes to solve larger scientific problems. MCHS Biology is designed to go beyond traditional science content. By focusing on phenomena relevant to students' lives and communities, the course provides opportunities to authentically engage with science and engineering practices.
This full year course is intended for students who love gaming and want to design and build original games from beginning to end. Students will learn how to use a variety of tools and software needed for game design including Unreal Engine 5. In addition, students will get a solid foundation in the basic concepts of game development. By the end of this course, students will have begun working on a game ready for a game‐development portfolio.
Advanced Game Design emphasizes creating substantial, artistic game design concepts within an interdisciplinary team-driven environment. This course covers advanced topics in game design, game programming, software project management, and indie game marketing channels. It will include design reviews, formal presentations, play testing, debugging, and job interview techniques.
