We brought our survey results to Ms. Jackson, who is the main person in charge of our school budget. During our discussion we learned that many things students want are already in the works as well as how complex organizing a school's budget really is.Keeping the school budget in order is not an easy task. Ms. Jackson explained in an interview with Círculos Stories that each school has different pools of money to draw from for various purposes. There are separate budgets to pay for academics, supplies, field trips, and facilities (school buildings, lunch tables, classrooms). Making decisions about what to with the money in each account is balancing act. "We were going to paint the school this summer. When I found out it would cost $60,000, we decided to spend that money on the students instead," Jackson told us. It takes a lot of work to organize this, and even more work to get help in making certain projects happen. "I've already put in 4 requests for a new blacktop," said Jackson during our interview.
