This September I started my 25th year teaching in the Saugerties Central School District.
In my personal work I like to paint landscapes with acrylics and watercolors and draw with colored pencils, I also love making art with materials I find in nature. I love to garden and cook, and I especially love to prepare food from the bounty of my garden.
The goal of this art course is to:
Develop an understanding of visual language and identify its usage in our world
Develop an appreciation for visual art and an understanding of our own personal aesthetic
Develop skills that we attribute to artists such as learning to properly use and care for tools, embracing problems, envisioning possibilities, creating art that expresses meaning, observing, reflecting and learning through experimentation
Students are expected to come to class prepared to work which includes bringing a pencil to class.
ALL other art supplies that students need to complete assignment will be provided by me, the instructor, (via the school district). These supplies are to be well cared for and stored in the classroom. If a student wishes to use the art supplies to complete work for another class or to take home the supplies in order to finish a class assignment, they are permitted to so long as they bring them back to class in time for use on assignments.
ANY LOST SUPPLIES must be replaced by the student
