Grading Policy
Grading Policy
There are four quarters and a final exam. Each quarter and the final are worth 20% of the overall grade.
Graded class assignments and homework assignments will count for 90% of the quarter grade. These assignments are largely based on effort and students are expected to make an honest attempt at completing the assignments using notes and strategies learned in class.
Tests, quizzes, and projects will be factored into the assignments above. The point value will be determined on the length of the assignments. They are normally worth more points than homework/classwork assignments.
There will be a midterm exam. It will be factored into the students third quarter average.
iReady is a program that we use in school. Students take a diagnostic assessment. The iReady program creates individualized pathways for each student based on their diagnostic. The students are required to work on their pathways and, on average, complete one pathway per week. The pathway due date schedule will be posted in the google classroom. Pathways are worth 10% of the quarter grade.
Delta math is an online problem generator. We use Delta math to practice skills. Students are to do the work on separate paper when using the Delta math program. The program includes videos and detailed explanations on how to solve the problems when they need help.
If a student is absent, the student has five days to make up missing work. I encourage students and parents to visit the google classroom to see what work is missing.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM: For parents to check the google classroom you should go to view work. If I have assigned something, you can tell if it has been graded or not by looking for an actual grade. If the student has a zero then it has not been turned in.

I do assign homework. It is always posted in the Google Classroom. Homework and classwork are generally graded on effort. I strongly encourage all students to work to the best of their ability on assignments. Late work will take a credit penalty. If it is past 5 days there is no credit given.

Parents, please call the main office to communicate anything to your child. It helps them focus on their academics and eliminates distractions.
Healthy snacks at appropriate times are fine. Snacks that make a disruption, hard to clean up/messy or are unhealthy are prohibitied. These include but are not limited to, candy, yogurts, bags of anything, popcorn, etc...
