2023-2024 Trimester 2

During the second trimester of the school year students were introduced to the Ladybug Picture Book Award Nominees for 2023. Each week students listened to me read aloud one of the nominees and followed up with a creative activity related to the story in the drawing center. The Ladybug Picture Book Award is hosted by the Center for the Book through the New Hampshire State Library. Students enjoyed the wide variety of books on the list. In addition to reading books, students learned how to locate the different types of books in the library as well as how to be responsible with our library books. 

2023 - 2024 Trimester 1 

This first trimester of the school year students have been consistently working on routines in the library such as how to check out books, how to care for books, and how to find books that interest them. We have read a selection of both fiction and nonfiction books together and students have been practicing making predictions and reflecting on different parts of the story. After listening to the weekly read aloud, students have been enjoying time at different library centers. It has been a pleasure watching them work on collaborating in the building center,  being creative in the drawing center, and spending time finding an exciting book in the book center.
