The LHS School Library Media Center is a dynamic, stimulating, safe and student-centered environment. Students, teachers, administrators gather to collaborate in a life-long quest to inquire, think critically and gain knowledge to understand and meet our constantly changing information needs.
The mission of the LHS Library Program is to support the District’s educational goals, to foster a love of reading among our students, establish an environment for students to pursue personal and ethical growth, and to ensure that students and teachers become life-long learners by becoming effective users of ideas, information and technology.
The LHS Library provides access to and instruction in the use of a variety of information sources, as information literacy, technology, research, digital citizenship and literature appreciation are integrated with curricular objectives from various disciplines. The teaching of these information and technology objectives is the joint responsibility of the teacher-librarian and the subject area teachers, who plan together to develop and deliver lessons. As students participate in these learning activities, they discover the wide applicability of information literacy and technology skills to all areas of study and develop the independent skills necessary to function successfully in today’s information-rich world.
