Talking about the News

As caregivers and teachers, we work hard to keep our kids feeling safe. Our desire to protect can often mean that we sometimes shelter kids from news that is considered too mature, scary, or difficult for them. However, there are many ways that kids can discover the distress in their world without talking to us (the internet, social media, peers, and even our own emotional cues). In difficult times, children benefit from the adults in their lives proactively addressing world events at an age appropriate level.
