2025 - 2026 Season was amazing!
Thank you bulldogs for such a wonderful experience.
2026-2027 Season
Practices are (mostly) after school until 4pm, Monday through Thursday. 2026-2027 season dates TBD.
There aren't sports buses, so athletes (and their families) need to transport themselves to the away games (carpooling is ok!).
Equipment
Field hockey stick (Mr. Benincasa has some available)
Eye protection (Mr. Benincasa has a couple available but please try to acquire some as I will not have enough for everyone, something like these)
Shin guards (field hockey shin guards have some ankle protection, these ones are reversible and have ankle coverage...and you don't need tall socks to cover them)
For games, black and white socks are needed (or their reversible shin guards).
Mouth guard (please have more than one for your player...they lose them and they SO important)
Cleats/sneakers
Athletic clothes to practice in (something comfortable to move in)
Water bottle
BMS will provide uniforms for games (jersey and shorts/shirt). Players will need to return (or replace) these at the end of the season.
Play It Again Sports in Portsmouth has some used field hockey equipment (if you don't want to purchase new gear).
Paperwork
Here is the info from the principal about paperwork:
Students must have an up to date Sports Physical or Physical Exam on file with the school nurse in order to participate in team sports at BMS. Students are required to have a physical within a year of the start of the season to be up to date. If a student does not have this, they may not participate. If a student has not had, and proven, a physical within the last year, they may try out for a sport with proof of an appointment. If your student has had a physical in the last year, you may ask your doctor’s office to send us a copy. Athletes may not participate in a game or meet until proof of a physical, or proof of an appointment, has been provided to the nurse. This is a simple liability policy. You also need a current Medical Release/Emergency Contact form on file with your coach. Once rosters are established they will be shared with the nurse and coaches will be informed of who can and cannot participate. Please reach out to the school nurse, Mrs. Escabi, or administration if you have any questions.
Contact your player's doctor and have them send the latest physical information to the school nurse (BMS fax is 603-664-5739; the nurse's email is eescabi@sau74.org) or schedule an appointment and make sure they send the information afterwards. You can also do a sports physical at Convenient MD (not affiliated, I just know that sometimes scheduling can be tricky and this is an option).
Players/families must also have a signed BMS Athletic Code of Conduct and BMS medical release form.
In order to play in games, players need all 3 (updated physical on file with the school nurse, medical release form, and Athletic Code of Conduct).
