All About Title I
According to the U.S. Department of Education, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 contains a provision known as Title I. The purpose of Title I is to improve the academic achievement of disadvantaged or low-achieving students, including closing the achievement gap between socioeconomic groups. It provides funding to schools in need to ensure that all students receive a quality education and are able to meet standards on state assessments.
