Our Time Together

We recognize the importance of predictable schedules when it comes to the development of your child. Our classroom schedule and routine are designed to provide students with opportunities to learn the expectations of a school environment, encouraging feelings of security and preparedness, while also influencing their emotional, cognitive, and social development.

A typical day in preschool may include times for: table top activities, puzzles, circle time/meeting, snack, story, and tons of free choice play.

*All children must be fully toilet trained to attend Pre-K at Lempster Community School.

What to Bring

Backpack: There is no storage available in the classroom, so students should bring a standard size backpack to and from school each day. In the backpack, students should have:

Water bottle: Water and hydration are an integral part in keeping the children healthy and ready for learning.  Reminders throughout our time will be given to ensure they are getting enough water in their day.  Please label the water bottle with your child's name.

Snack: Snack time is an important part of our preschool day where we practice many self-help and socialization skills. Your child should bring a healthy snack and a drink in a lunch bag, labeled with your child’s name. Sharing snacks is discouraged, with the exception of special classroom events.

Spare Clothes: Program activities often involve wet and/or messy play, and we request you provide an extra set of clothing in your child’s backpack if needed. Be sure to include an extra pair of underpants and socks as well. A Ziploc bag works well to store the clothes in, and be sure to label all items with your child’s name.

Folder: Your child will be provided a folder that should come back and forth to school daily. Essential papers and notices will be placed in the folder as well as work done by your child. Please check it daily and use it to place notices/notes to return to school.

To avoid classroom disruption and potential upset for your child, we kindly ask you to discourage your child from bringing toys and stuffed animals to school. We do encourage the sharing of special curiosities discovered through exploration, such as bird’s nests and shells.
