To give you a sense of how small it is compared to our whole atmosphere, here is a supporting image. The Troposphere is at the bottom.
The Troposphere is a layer of the Earth's atmosphere that covers the Earth's crust. It is about 7 miles thick in places, and up to 11 miles thick in others. It contains almost all of the Earth's air, and is the only life-sustaining layer of the atmosphere. To further explain why it is so important ,the reason you can't breathe on top of Mount Everest is because the top is almost bordering the edge of the Troposphere. All of the Earth's weather patterns also occur inside of the Troposphere. The Troposphere consists of 78.08% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.04% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases. It also contains a variable amount of water vapor.
Climate is a measurement of the average weather patterns, average temperatures, average humidity levels and so on in a specific region. One example of climate change is global warming, which is effecting the whole world. Global warming is not only causing over all warmer temperatures, but it is also effecting weather patterns worldwide. This winter, we got less snow in New Hampshire than ever before in my life. That's an effect of climate change. Also, global warming is mainly being caused by us humans and our carbon emissions.

The term Weather is used to describe the state of a part of the Troposphere, and is also used to describe temperatures, wind, or humidity in a specific area. Weather can include happenings like rain or snow, and even a clear sky is a type of weather. Weather can be recorded by simply noting down what the sky is like, or sending up a weather balloon to take more accurate readings of visibility, windiness, and humidity.
Young Robert, you currently receive generous amounts of snow in Rhode Island. But, in the future, your excess of snow will recede. This is because of global warming, which is becoming a hastily increasing problem in the future. Global warming is caused mainly by normal, everyday carbon emissions into the atmosphere from car exhaust, incinerating waste, burning fossil fuels and coal, and even keeping lights or air conditioning on. But you could make a difference! You could spread the word about our carbon emissions to your friends and family, and consider walking or biking to reasonably distanced locations. Also, make sure to shut you lights and air conditioning off if you don't need them!
