Dear Young Robert,
I am writing this letter to inform you about global warming. To start, I will give you the definitions of a few words. The first being troposphere. The troposphere is the layer of the earth that we live in. Towards the equator it is about 11 miles thick. Towards the poles, it is about 7 miles thick. It goes from the ground to the top of where birds, planes, and mountains reach. This is the main place where most changes and important things happen. The next word is weather. Weather is the conditions of the atmosphere for a certain day, place, and time. This is the kind of thing that you would look at daily. Some of the examples for this are rain, snow, hail, wind, sun, and air pressure. The last word is climate. Climate is the average weather of a certain place. The climate is measured through a long period of time. One of the most important things about climate is the fact that it changes. Some people may not believe it, but climate change and global warming is real and happening quite quickly. Images for climate and weather can be found on the page labeled images.
One example of climate change is how there used to be four ski areas in Rhode Island, but now there is only one which is completely run by artificial snow and it is a water park in the summer. This is such a big problem that every little thing can help. What can you do to help? There are many things that you can do to help. Things as simple as choosing to open the windows instead of using the air conditioning or just turning off lights that don't need to be on. Another thing could be by taking a bus or a bike instead of a car. You could also pay more attention to what is going on. Some examples of this could be by keeping a diary on the weather/ climate or participating in a data gathering program.
In conclusion, climate change is a big issue that needs to be stopped. There are many things that could be done to help yet aren't being changed. Our future depends on you. Start saving the world today!
Sincerely,
Matthew C
