Summary: (PARAGRAPH FORM, Who, What, Where, When, Why)
On January 6, after being missing for six weeks, the Pinta was back in sight. Her captain claimed that he never meant to abandon Columbus and the rest of the crew. Columbus being Columbus, pretended that he believed him, but in his logbook, he wrote otherwise. Columbus then decided to leave to Spain as quickly as possible, but just before the crew left, a huge fight broke out. peace between the natives and the crew only lasted for a month. when Columbus and his crew left, the ran into a storm. Both boats lost control and separated. the Nina ended up in pretty harsh condition, forcing the team to sail to the territory of the Portuguese.
A few weeks ago in class, we were told to read an article about Columbus day, and that article was very interesting. In America, some people are changing/have changed the name of Columbus day because they feel that it is a disgrace to the people who were here before Columbus (the Indians). I believe that this is kind of stupid because we are celebrating the day that Columbus discovered America for Spain. Then again, Columbus was a terrible man who really didn't do anything to deserve a holiday, but then there is the fact that the Indians were only just living here. They didn't do anything special except exist, while Columbus made a huge trip across the ocean and actually discovered things for his country.
