1. Voyage: a long journey involving travel by sea or by space
2. Trade Winds: a wind blowing steadily toward the equator. Either from the northeast in the northern hemisphere, or the southeast in the southern hemisphere, particularly at sea.
3. Embarkation: the process of loading a ship with passengers
On August 3rd of 1492 Christopher Columbus hopped aboard one of his three ships and set out to sea. Seemingly, on an expedition said to be "just across the water." (According to Columbus himself) He set sails and began his journey in a rather small town on the southern tip of Spain; a village of the name Palos. His original plan was to discover an all water route and shortcut from Spain to Asia. To then, upon his arrival explore the land, and sail back to Palos and become noticed for his achievement.
