Dear Young Robert,
Climate change and weather is becoming a bigger issue nowadays than it was back then. You see, if our society doesn't do something about climate change, everything will progressively get worse until someday, climate change will be irreversible.
The troposphere is a part of the atmosphere. There is a lot of stuff in it; this includes planes, clouds, weather, birds, oxygen, and everything else. The troposphere is practically all the open air and space you find around you. It is the most important part of the atmosphere, and it reaches from the Earth's surface and up about 7-11 miles. The troposphere is composed of 80% nitrogen, 19% oxygen, and less than 1% of argon, water vapor, and carbon dioxide. Although recently, the carbon dioxide levels have become dangerously high.
Weather is the conditions of the atmosphere at a given time and place. Some examples of weather are snow, rain, sun, humidity, cloud cover, air pressure, wind storms, etc. Weather is always changing. Climate is the average condition of the atmosphere at a given region over a long period of time. Climate also changes. Examples of climate include: humid subtropical and humid continental.
1st image is of weather, 2nd image is of climate. Both images are free to use/share and found on Creative Commons.
This image is of weather. This is relevant because it shows snow in a certain place at a certain time. Whereas somewhere else in the world, it could be a sunny day with not a cloud in the sky.
This is an image of climate. I chose this image because it is of icebergs in Greenland, that have slowly melted over time. They used to be much larger than this, but they have now melted down into the water.
To end this letter, I would like to tell you a few things you could have done differently to help with the whole climate change situation that is currently taking over our world.
Some things you could have done differently include:
In conclusion, climate change is becoming a very big issue, and if we don't do something to help soon, the damage could be irreversible.
Your acquaintance,
Maria Proulx
