Herodotus was a Greek man, who lived about 2500 years ago, in what is now known as "Ancient Greece" (which today is the country of Greece). If you saw the "2500 years ago" and are too lazy to do some very easy math (2500 - 2018), this means he was alive around 450 B.C.E. (as displayed on the home screen). The man was born in Halicarnassus, part of the Persian Empire at the time. This place is in what is now known as Turkey (the country, not the bird).
Herodotus was a historian who wrote a set of writings known as "The History", which is actually 9 books (although he was not the one who broke it into the 9 books), about the Greco-Persian wars. The first five books set up the background to the wars, and then the sixth through ninth books told the history of the wars.
But the main purpose of this project is (I guess) to describe what Herodotus thought the Earth looked like.
Based on things in Herodotus' book(s), it is highly likely that he thought that the world was flat, with countries closer to the "edge" of the flat Earth consistently having higher temperatures during the morning or afternoon, depending on where they were. Because of this, it is also likely that he never went to most of these places, because if he had, he would likely be aware of the fact that because of the way the Earth rotates on an axis and rotates around the sun, almost if not everywhere it is warmest around noontime. An example of this would be him describing India (now possibly India or Afghanistan) as being like this; hottest in the morning, and then getting cooler as the day moves on.
He also said that at the edge of the world were the "Pillars of Hercules," and that anyone who goes beyond those (which are actually just where Africa and Spain almost touch) will die, as it is the edge of the world. This is obviously not the case, because the Americas exist.
