Hopkinton is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. Hopkinton is West of Concord, South of Manchester, West of Henniker, and East of Bow New Hampshire. Hopkinton is about an hour away from the east coast, and the center of Hopkinton's absolute location is 43.1948° N, 71.6911° W.
Hopkinton, New Hampshire has many special characteristics that separate it from other places. For instance, Hopkinton features a series of rock walls all over the town. You can find them anywhere from the middle of downtown Contoocook to people’s backyards. Originally used to mark property lines and location, the rock walls are everywhere. Hopkinton is also home to many historical buildings such as old churches, the Hopkinton Town Library, Hopkinton’s Middle High School, and more. Hopkinton is separated into 3 villages: Hopkinton Village, West Hopkinton, and Contoocook. Another characteristic of Hopkinton are its many covered bridges. The Contoocook railroad bridge is the oldest extant railroad bridge in the United States. These are all examples of cultural things that make Hopkinton unique, and there are plenty of physical ones as well.
Hopkinton is home to the Contoocook river, a 71 mile long river. It is one of only a few rivers in New Hampshire that flow in a northward direction. As well as rivers, Hopkinton also hosts many lakes/ponds such as Kimball Pond, Everett Lake, and Drew Lake. Hopkinton is also home to a number of rare/native trees. These include the Eastern Hemlock, Red Maple, White Ash, Eastern Red Cedar, White Pine, and more.
