The Norway Maple came from Europe and Western Asia. The leaves are 4-7" wide and long with five lobes with sharply pointed teeth around the edges. The Norway Maple was introduced to the United States in the 1750's. This tree was used as a street tree due to its fast-growing nature. It got to the U.S. by seed which could have gotten carried by the wind or animals could have moved them, they could also be moved by water. I think that the Norway Maple could be in Hopkinton if it is anywhere it is probably by a road or sidewalk. The Norway Maple is an invasive because they have very shallow roots and produce a lot of shade which makes it difficult for grass and other plants to grow near them.
