The shops and restaurants of Hopkinton include the Cracker Barrel, Lake House Tavern, Every Day Cafe, Demetris Pizza, and Colonial Village Store. These are important because they help define our town for what it is today. There are quite a few farms in Hopkinton as well, such as Contook Creamery, Owen Farm, and Gould Hill Farm. These are important because they provide fresh and local produce for the Hopkinton Area. We also have a town library, town fire station, and police station. These help keep order to our town and make sure everyones safe. Finally, there are many dams and waterways on the Contoocook river in our town. These were made because of major flooding that happened one year and the dams were made to stop this from happening again.
There are many important physical geography features in Hopkinton. Some of these are its many lakes and ponds, hills, rivers, trees, and wildlife. Some of the many ponds in Hopkinton are Kimball Lake, Drew Lake, Hopkinton Lake, Whitter Pond, and Grassy Pond. These provide most of the fishing in our town. There are also two rivers that flow through our town. There is the Contoocook river and the Warner river. These are where the mills in our town would have been made. Some hills in our town are Gould Hill and Putney Hill. These two hills were named after the families of some of the first settlers in Hopkinton. There is also quite a bit of wildlife in our town. Coyotes, red foxes, deer, ducks, beever, otter, muskrat, mink, and a variety of fish can all be found in Hopkinton. These are important to our town because all of these animals keep our ecosystem stable.
