Columbus had a main plain to travel to Asia and they said that it would be easier to travel to Asia if you go around Spain. But they thought they could go down and out and they would then make it to Asia so that is what they did. They heading on the coast for a few hundred miles and then went outward they took many twists and turns. They went up and down. They thought at one point they saw land and they were in the middle of the ocean. One crew member thought that he saw land, they went after it and then it was gone. They were giving up and saying we are lost and we will never find land. They then saw birds and they thought the birds might take us to land. They fallowed them for days. The crew said they are just bringing us farther in the ocean and not closer to land. Then they saw tree branches, broken music pieces, and bottles. Then they saw land, a crew member saw land. The first crew member or person to see land got a bag of coins. They crew said give that man his coins he saw land first. Then Columbus said no i get the bag of coins because I saw and in the night but I did not want to wake you guys because you were asleep.
