Classwork Information
For the weeks of September 29th
This week students will be finishing up studying the many achievements of ancient Rome. We are looking at things like the Colosseum, the 12 Tables of Rome, and the influence of the Latin language on our modern languages. Mid-week students will have a quiz to check their understanding of these various achievements.
After we finish up with achievements we will be moving on to politics! This topic is when we really get to dive in to the different government structures and important leaders throughout Rome's history.
Daily Agendas: Here are the Daily Agendas for our Writing Boot Camp unit.
Please keep in mind that we are always adapting plans based on student needs, so the slides are subject to change. Students will also have access to the Daily Agenda slides on Google Classroom.
Homework Expectations: Students should be completing 20 minutes of reading Monday - Thursday. Students can choose to read a physical book, ebook, audiobook, newspaper, magazine, etc. They have time during the school day to go down to the library and/or pick a book from my classroom library. They also have access to an online book platform called Sora that has ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines that they should be familiar with at this point.
Hello All!
We have started Unit 2; Proportional Relationships. It is a continuation of Unit 1, so having a solid foundation on Unit 1 is important.
I am offering all students a chance to work on Pre-Algebra content this year, in addition to your 7th grade work :). The link below is to the Pre-Algebra classroom. This will be a separate classroom for just the Pre-Algebra notes and assignments. By working on the pre-algebra content, you will better prepare yourself for the Algebra class next year as an 8th grader. This does not mean you are automatically in the Algebra class. We look at test scores from Aimsweb (three scores during the year) as well as SAS scores in the spring and Unit Test scores from the whole year to best place all students. Additionally, you will take a final Pre-Algebra assessment that will also factor in to your placement.
This pre-algebra work is a mix of standards from 6-8th grades, some of it will be a review. It is extra work however. You need to complete your current 7th grade materials before you work on pre-algebra. We will have options to meet during Hawk Times on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well as before school from 7:15-7:55am on Fridays. Students can join these meetings to go over answers, ask questions, get new materials and work together with other pre-algebra students. They do not have to attend every week, but it is best if they make as many as possible.
I will be putting up a sign up for math team this week. I plan to begin practices by the end of the month. Practices will be offered during Hawk Time as well as before school on Tuesdays from 7:15-7:55
Our Math Counts math meet is in February but we have a lot to cover before then!
If you have questions please let me know.

We are starting our second unit of study that will be broken into several smaller sections. It pertains to the organization of the human body with a focus on how different systems work together so we can accomplish our daily tasks. Here is the LINK to the daily agenda. It will also integrate student learning of the characteristics of life into our everyday lives.
Coming soon: We will be collaborating with English to create infographics all about human body systems.
Reminder: students should come to class with their science binder, science journal, writing utensil, planner, Chromebook (in its case), and homework when applicable.
We are currently learning the names of school supplies and after break will be discussing food and the similarities and differences between school lunch in the U.S. vs. school lunch in France.
Herzlich Willkommen in Deutsch 7!
Welcome to German 7. Students are just beginning to learn the sounds and spelling of German words. We are looking for common words and cognates (words that look or sound the same from one language to another).
Students have been greeting one another, reading short texts, and working on setting up their class notebooks. Please review the course syllabus with your student and email me if you have any questions!
Practicing vocabulary continues to be essential to leveling up their language skills. Students have new Quizlet sets on Google Classroom and they should be studying 10-15 minutes of old and new vocabulary per day!
¡Hola a todos! This week, students are learning how to pronounce the letters of the Spanish alphabet. They watched the Mexican short film "Amor de lata." Set at an elementary school in Mexico, the film is about a boy who plays a game involving the Spanish alphabet to predict the love of his life!
My high school Spanish students are studying monarch butterfly migration, and 2 butterflies hatched overnight! Here are photos of your students holding/releasing monarch butterflies! (Thank you, Mrs. Main, for taking these wonderful pictures!)
Wow, its hard to believe we will be mid way through January next week! Parents, if you have any concerns with your student, please feel free to reach out to me. Students, I'm primarily in English and Math classes. Even if we don't meet regularly, please know that I'm here to help everyone. If you see me in your classroom, feel free to ask me if you need help.
We have made it through the first month of middle school! I am checking in with each 7th grader individually. Please let me know if your son/daughter needs anything to help with their school day.
What an amazing first few weeks of band and chorus! In band, we have worked at home and done two practice logs. Students also got online to essential elements to make their first recording. Check out their aspen page for any feedback.
In chorus, students did their first rhythm check in on sight reading factory and are well on their way to their third piece of chorus music. They are strongly singing in three part harmony!
Quick reminder that if you have any questions please email me bgattie@sau66.org
