Summary: (PARAGRAPH FORM, Who, What, Where, When, Why)
Christopher Columbus had made his trip to what he thought was Asia and is now heading back to Europe. He left on January 6th with half of his crew because one of the ships had sank and there was only so much room on one boat so he left some of the crew and made his voyage back to Europe. He had gathered items to bring back to Europe to prove that he had been to Asia. While on the way back to Europe there were many issues consisting of the sails and the boat falling apart but they managed to cling on and make the Journey home.
Type your "thoughts" on the Columbus Day "change of name" idea) I think it should stay as Columbus Day because every holiday is named after something or someone and Columbus day is named after Christopher Columbus. Christopher Columbus was famous for being one of the first people to travel across to try and get to Asia. He managed to get across but he did not know at the time that where he was going was not where Asia was so he ended up landing in the Bahamas. I think it should stay Columbus day because without Christopher Columbus we would not have all of the great things he had discovered while in the Bahamas.
