After the trip to get goods and bring back golds and spices from Asia, Columbus heads back to home land. He has already lost Santa maria to drowning. He now has to live of the Pinta the small boat and still make it home alive . Almost three quarters in to the trip a giant storm appears. It then makes the Pinta spin and almost loss track in the night. When morning arrives the Nina is nowhere to be seen so there only choice is to head over to the Puertorican island above. When they finally arrive at the Portuguese island they don't let them in because the are the arch rivals to Spain. instead they sneak in. So Columbus has to persuade them into letting them in. His plan works and they get enough food and water to head back.
In the end I believe that Columbus is stupid. He has no respect for anyone. He stole, lied and blamed stuff on the people and he still calls the land he "found" is all his and Spain's. For example, in his log book he said that he traded everything. But then he said he took some silver and gold and some spices. He also stole natives to only prove that he has been to "Asia" and back. From all of these new items in the ship they actually had to leave 39 crew members and later had to come back to get them.
In my opinion I do not believe that we should celebrate columbus day. First off all he is a jerk and did I mention the he has no respect. second of all he didn't even "discover" us. All he did was say he found Asia or "new" land.
