Title I is a federally funded program to provide supplemental educational opportunities in both literacy and mathematics for children. Children are selected for this program through assessments such as STAR testing, NH State Assessment, Developmental Reading Assessment, AIMSWEB, teacher observations, and school records. Every child is assessed at the beginning, middle, and end of the year to help track progress and plan instructional support. We work with the classroom teachers to align our instruction with the classroom curriculum instruction while meeting the individual student needs.

Literacy and Numeracy Support

Literacy - the ability to read, write, view, design, speak, and listen - is fundamental to learning. The ultimate goal of any education system is to provide its children with the necessary literacy, numeracy and broader skills that they need to fulfill their potential. Literacy enables us to be able to communicate effectively in various forms, including within the increasingly important world of digital technology. With increased literacy, comes the ability for people to be productive members of our society, with greater potential for a bright future.

Numeracy - the ability to use numbers accurately, flexibly, and conceptually. As students move through school they are exposed to mathematical understanding, fluency, problem solving, and reasoning. Numeracy involves connecting the mathematics learned in school to situations beyond the four walls of ECS. Students will need to be able to apply problem solving skills and well as sense-making strategies as they navigate new situations and problems.
