Literacy- Competencies

  1. Literary Text: Understand, analyze, and evaluate grade level print and non-print literary texts
  2. Informational Text: Understand, analyze, and evaluate grade level print and non-print informational texts
  3. Reading at the Word Level: Apply grade level phonics, word structure and vocabulary knowledge to read accurately and fluently
  4. Writing Narrative Texts: Write effectively to communicate real or imaginary ideas and experiences
  5. Writing Informative Texts: Write effectively to develop, summarize, and communicate information about topics and events

Homework Expectations

Homework can be expected Monday -Thursday in math.

Spelling homework will vary depending on how much each student accomplishes during the day.

Students should be reading at least 20 minutes each night.

Total time spent on homework should be about 50 minutes (including reading).

There is generally no homework (except reading) on weekends unless a student has a long term project.
