Following the adoption of a new math program, teachers continue to fine tune their instructional strategies, strengthen the program content, and respond to student needs based on data analysis and anecdotal notes.
Embracing an approach to literacy instruction rooted in the Science of Reading, teachers focus on explicit and systematic instruction that includes the five components of literacy. These include phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Professional development has been rooted in growing instructional knowledge in each of these areas. Looking ahead, the district will also be piloting literacy programs during the 26'/27' school year.
