Hello! I am looking forward to getting to know each child in third grade, therefore children and families might like to know a little about my life. I have a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master's degree from Regis University in Denver, Colorado in Elementary Education. In my previous life, I worked as a graphic designer and a commercial printing sales representative. One day, I woke up and realized that I didn't like my job. I had family and friends who were teachers and noticed how much they loved their job. It was more than a job, it was a lifestyle. So, I decided to go back to school and change my career. I made the perfect decision. In Colorado, I taught for four years at a little school where most the students' native language was Spanish. I loved the students, school, coworkers, and environment. My husband and I moved back from Colorado in 2009 to be closer to family, enjoy beautiful New Hampshire, and start teaching at Greenland Central School. I have loved every minute of my time here.
When I am not at school, I spend time with my almost twelve year old twin boys, family, and friends. We spend free time outdoors exploring nature, the beach, the lake, and our backyard biking trails. We listen to as much live music as possible and make sure to carve out some time to work on our home. I love to read historical fiction novels because I can connect with a character's life while I learn about a piece of history.
My philosophy: As just a small part of my students’ long life, I have some big responsibilities. My most important responsibility is to educate each child, at their level, and make as many gains as possible. With time, I will come to know each child and help that child become a life- long, independent learner. Together, we will celebrate strengths and help each other overcome obstacles. Most of all, we will have fun learning!
