Mrs. Kepka
Here you will find general information about science this year and links to helpful sites.
We will be using STEMScopes as part of our online curriculum.
We start the year looking at specific parts of physical science, which is study of inanimate natural objects, including physics, chemistry, astronomy, and related subjects.
Topics will include: Kinetic and Potential Energy, Newton's Third Law of Motion, Changes in Force and Motion, and Electric and Magnetic Forces
We then move into our life science units. Life science is considered the study of living organisms, including biology, botany, zoology, microbiology, physiology, biochemistry, and related subjects.
Topics will include: Ecosystem Biodiversity, Competition in Ecosystems, Flow of Energy in Ecosystems
We finish with our Earth science units. Earth science is considered any of the sciences (such as geology, meteorology, or oceanography) that deal with the earth or with one or more of its parts.
Topics will include: Human Activities and Global Climate Change, Human Impact on the Environment, Natural Hazard Predictions, and Human Dependance on Natural Resources
We also have access to IXL Science which a a great supplemental tool of students that may need additional support on various topic areas or that want to push themselves further with their science knowledge.
