Parent/Guardian Safety Consent Form

The safety of all students in the Technology Education department and woodworking club is of the utmost priority and is our number one overall concern. To ensure safe practices each student will;

  • Be shown a general woodshop safety.

  • Be provided the proper safety and operation of the required machines and tools.

  • Be instructed through elaborate demonstrations on all tools and equipment.

  • Have explanations on the safe and proper use of all tools and equipment.

  • Be assessed on practical safe machine tool operation.

  • Be required to wear safety glasses whenever in the woodshop.

  • Be required to wear closed toed shoes in the woodshop.

  • Be required to tie hair or loose clothing out of the way while in the woodshop.

Students who fail to meet these standards of safety will be reminded or asked to leave for the day

Any student who is deemed a safety hazard to himself/herself or to other students in the class will be removed to the custody of the main office. These students will receive a student discipline referral and will face disciplinary consequences from the instructor and/or school administration.

Parent/Guardian Memorandum of Understanding

I have read and understand the club objectives, projects, and woodshop guidelines. I understand that my student must follow all safety rules and procedures demonstrated and explained by the teacher’s instructions. I understand that my student will be excused for any unsafe practice or behavior deemed by the instructor. I also understand that participation in any technology course can be terminated due to my unsafe behavior or practices at the discretion of the supervisor.

By signing this document I understand the expectations and the consequences of my student's behavior while participating in the woodshop. This document will be kept in your student’s safety portfolio throughout their high school career.

“I hereby give my consent to allow my student to operate all machines and equipment necessary in carrying out the requirements of the course.”
