Research Overview
RESEARCH GUIDELINES
To meet the research requirements for Senior Project you must have a variety of research types that you have documented in a formal Works Cited page.
Types of Research
Your research must include information gathered from a wide variety of modalities, including, but not limit to:
Printed material (books, magazines, newspapers)
Electronic material on-line articles, scientific papers)
Personal interviews
Personal experiences (apprenticeships, site visits, formal observations, formal experiments)
Podcasts
Videos
Evidence of Research
A complete MLA form Works Cited page maintained for the duration of your research.
An organizational system—agreed upon by you and your mentor—in which you keep the evidence of your research.
A minimum of 10 sources (Wikipedia and encyclopedias may be used but will not count toward the 10 sources)
A minimum of 10 pages of notes (12 point font, single spaced)
Notes can can full sentences or a bulleted list
Notes CANNOT be a cut and paste
Highlighting or underlining printed documents is not sufficient evidence of research
Annotated drawings or pictures should be included with research.
Copies of email correspondence should be included in research notes.
Personal experiences must be documented through reflections or other written notes.
Videos must be documented with written notes.
Personal interviews must be documented with interview notes.
Your research will be assessed by your mentor, in consultation with your panel. You will NOT attend a formal panel meeting for this checkpoint.
