JMUES partners with three instrument rental companies. Their rental flyers are posted at the bottom of this page.
David French Music- family owned, run out of Massachusetts.
Ellis Music- family owned, run out of Vermont.
Music & Arts- national chain, local storefront in Manchester.
The school is not affiliated with any company, but, as a convenience, each company provides weekly service calls to JMUES. Both companies provide excellent quality instruments; however, they differ in rental rates/terms, equity/rent-to-own plans, trial period lengths, and repair programs. Music & Arts has a storefront in nearby Manchester if you prefer to go into the store yourself for repairs, rentals, or purchases.
You are not required to rent or purchase from these providers. If you prefer to purchase a student model instrument, please be aware that a used, high-quality brand name instrument is a better purchase than a used, non-quality instrument. Companies that make quality student model instruments include Yamaha, Selmer, Bach, Gemeinhardt, Pearl, and Jupiter. Beware of instruments sold at temptingly low prices. Oftentimes these instruments require frequent repair and can be difficult to play.
Rental orders and supply purchases will be delivered to JMUES and distributed at your child’s first lesson.
Although it is tempting, it is recommended that students do not try to put their instruments together before the first lesson, as they could be damaged if put together incorrectly.
Your child will need to have an instrument by September 16th. Students will also need the method book Standard of Excellence, Book 1 by Bruce Pearson. This book is available for purchase through both rental vendors. All students should also have a music stand for home practice
