Technology Class at MES!

In this lab, students will be expanding their knowledge and skill sets through the use of technology tools to become 21st century learners! Our classroom is centered around collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Our curriculum is aligned to the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards. Our focus is to prepare students to "thrive in a constantly evolving technological landscape."

Technology class in First Grade is all about reinforcing skills from last year as well as introducing new skills! We will be focusing on learning and reinforcing:

• Pointing Device Skills - Mouse, TouchPad, TouchScreen (manipulating, clicking/selecting, click and drag, scrolling, etc.)

• Using desktop icons, windows, and menus to open applications

• Turning on a computer and logging in (in-class skill)

• Keyboarding

  • Learning proper posture and ergonomics

  • Locating and using letter/number keys with correct hand placement

• Digital Citizenship Skills

• Continue building problem-solving skills through Coding

• Word Processing skills (inserting images, copy/paste, etc.)
