Through diverse initiatives, the Counseling team at SRMS strive to support student success through three main domains: Academic, Career/College, and overall wellness. The Counseling Office is a place where students can go for guidance and encouragement to problem solve and successfully manage personal, practical, and academic issues. Our goal is to cultivate a safe and respectful educational environment where all students become lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and ethical community members.
Mrs. Byrne is the School Counselor for the middle school, working with students on an individual basis, in small groups, and in their classrooms. Ms. Anderson is the Student Assistance Counselor for the middle and high schools, providing both individual and school-wide services to support classroom instruction, behavior management, student safety, family support and community relations. Mrs. Prahl Is the K-12 Social Worker for the district working to mobilize family, school, and community resources to enable students to learn as effectively as possible in their educational programs. She works directly with students and families providing mental health intervention, crisis management, and support services. Ms. Berry is the 6-12 Special Education School Counselor, providing counseling and lessons to support student goals outlined in their Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs). She works with the educational team to help students navigate transitions, manage behavioral challenges, and build self-advocacy skills.
We are a school-wide resource and support service for all students, as well as parents, and fellow educators. To see Mrs. Byrne, Ms. Anderson, Mrs. Prahl, or Ms. Berry, email to make an appointment at:
