"Muscle tension is an oft-overlooked factor in preparing an athlete to race. To have your runners 'feeling good' on race day, be sure that their last sessions consists of a few faster-than-race-pace strides or reps. To ensure that their athletes are also properly rested for their race, some coaches will plan their rest day two days before, then have their athletes do some short, but sharp efforts one day before."
