GRADE 7
GRADE 7
Grade 7 is currently wrapping up Chapter 4 in Book A in Math in Focus on Direct and Indirect Proportions with a lesson on percent increase and decrease, followed by a lesson with real-world problems on the same topic. Students are encouraged to solve for percent increase/decrease with the method that makes most sense to them, be it solving for the percent and then adding or subtracting that from the whole, or simply finding the percent needed based on the increase or decrease. In terms of proportions, students have learned how to identify a direct or indirect proportion from a graph, equation, or verbal description.

GRADE 8
GRADE 8
In 8th grade students are currently working on Systems of Linear Equations, where it is important to find the unique solution where two linear equations meet on a graph. Students learn to do this by either making a table for each equation, or by using the substitution or elimination method. In addition to this students are learning how to graph systems of linear equations.

Algebra Concepts
Algebra Concepts
In Algebra Concepts students are learning how to identify relations and which types of relations are functions. Students are also learning how to provide a verbal description of a function, and how to use that to write an algebraic equation of it in order to create a table and graph of it.
