Welcome to Mrs.Edwardson's Second Grade Website!
Mrs. Edwardson | aedwardson@sau103.org | Ext. 115 |
It's hard to believe that February is already here! It will be a short, but busy month. It is always exciting to see the students using all the skills we have been learning, and making great progress! Please keep reminding your students to read each night, and bring back the book they borrow from the class each day (unless they're reading a chapter book).
Please remember to send in hats, mittens, snow pants, boots, and shoes. It's helpful to have a dry set of clothes in their bag in case your child gets wet at recess too.
Upcoming dates:
Tuesday, Feb. 3rd-Squam Lakes Science Program at school
Thursday, Feb. 5th- Ragged Ski Program in the afternoon (final day!)
Wednesday, Feb. 11th-The 100th day of school!
Friday, Feb. 13th-Valentine party and activities
February 23rd-27th-February vacation
Many of the programs we use are listed below. If you have trouble accessing them at home, please let me know.
Greg Tang Math
There is a great website that has math skills that help students (and adults) think differently about math. All the activities are free, and we use them to practice skills in math. I've included the link to the Greg Tang math page here. If you click on Student Activities, there are great games to play to practice many skills. Many of the games are fun for adults too-I like playing Kakooma and NumTanga!
Scholastic News
Each month we receive the Scholastic News magazine. The magazines are always relevant to current topics and written at grade level. Students can also access the magazines online. Click here to get to the homepage of Scholastic News. Choose your grade, click student, and log in. The password is edwardson. Once they're in, they can listen to stories, watch videos and play games about the topics from that month.
Raz kids reading and science
In our classroom, we sometimes use RAZ science. . Raz science lets me assign different science topics, and they can explore videos, books, jobs, and more about each science topic. The login to Raz is here. If they type aedwardson0 (that's a zero), they can access their science content.
IXL
Each student has a different set of skills to practice, and their recommended skills keep changing as they grow and develop. Click here to get to the login. Everyone is our class has their firstnamelast name@jdb as their login. They know their passwords too. They can go into the diagnostics tab to practice a variety of skills, or go to recommendations to practice one type of skill.
