PACE and Enhanced ELA Classes

The PACE and Enhanced level ELA classes at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School have been created to challenge students demonstrating above grade-level skills and a passion for their ELA studies. Each class will strive to think outside of the box and push our learning forward year after year in the areas of reading, writing, language usage, and speaking and listening skills.

About me

Hi! I'm Kate Burke, and this is my 17th year teaching at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School, but my FIRST year teaching PACE! I'm looking forward to working with these exceptional students. I received my bachelors and masters degrees from UNH, and have participated in continuing education through Northeastern University.

Outside of school, I love to do anything outdoors: hiking, skiing, camping, or fishing are all favorites of mine! I love cooking and trying new foods-- there's nothing I won't try! At home, I have a wonderful husband, crazy 5-year old daughter, plus a drooly dog and a three-legged cat. Here's to a great year!
