Introduction to Intangible Heritage
This Diploma aims on introducing the participant to Intangible Heritage. Through this course the participant will learn various theoretical and applied aspects of Intangible Heritage such as forms of Intangible Heritage and understanding the intangible aspects related to religious architecture.
Course objective:
To introduce participants to various concepts related to intangible heritage
To make participants aware of various forms of intangible heritage in India based on the UNESCO Convention of Intangible Heritage 2003
Know your roots. This course is designed for every person who is interested in learning various aspects of intangible heritage.
Course Contents:
1. Introduction to Intangible Heritage
2. UNESCO and Intangible Heritage
3. Forms of Intangible Heritage: Arts, crafts, performing arts, oral traditions
4. Intangible heritage related to architecture
5. Introduction to Cultural Anthropology
6. Tribal Heritage and documentation of tribal heritage
7. Vedic, Agamic, and Puranic Traditions and their effect on the rituals
8. Traditions and Social Customs in India according to Dharmashastra
9. Utsav, Vrata and Kuladharma-Kulachara
10. Mythology as Intangible Heritage
11. Cultural Assimilation
12. From Iconography to Iconology
13. Understanding the intangible aspects related to the religious architecture (Phandarpur, Tuljapur, Kolhapur)
14. Documenting and Safeguarding of Intangible Heritage such as arts, crafts, and festivals
15. National and international initiatives towards intangible heritage
Learning Outcome:
On successful completion of this course , participants will know about various facets of Intangible heritage.
Course Duration : 4.5 Months (Maximum 60 Hours) and 2 hours per week of teaching.
Course Fee: Rs. 2,000/- (two thousand only) - for Sathaye college (Autonomous) students
Rs. 4,500/- (four thousand five hundred only) - for other participants
